This hike is part of the Our Wild North Carolina Celebration! We will hike the Birkhead Mountain Trail which is rated easy to moderate. We will keep the hike to just over 6 miles. North Carolina almost lost the Uwharrie National Forest, and the area has been called our “central park”.
You will need to bring lunch, water, hiking fooetware, and rain gear. Please note that there are creek crossings, but are easy to ford. Trekking poles and appropriate footwear for occasional wet conditions are recommended.
To register for the hike contact Henry Fansler at email@example.com or 336-473-0283. Wilderness outings are limited to 10 hikers.
